[George Henry Pierce Civil War Letters, 1861-1862] 1861-1862.

This collection consists of correspondence from May 1861 to March 1862, between members of the Hiram Dwight Pierce family of Troy, New York, to son George H. Pierce during his service in the Civil War as a private, later Colonel, in Company F of Colonel Carr's Regiment of the New York Volunteers. The collection includes a 125th Regiment flag fragment.

George Henry Pierce, the son of Hiram Dwight Pierce and Sara Jane Wiswall Pierce, enlisted into the Civil War, May 3, 1861, at age 19, in Troy, New York. He was mustered in as a private, into Company F, Colonel Carr's Regiment, New York Volunteers, May 14, 1861, to serve two years.
